‍From New Paltz to Niimi is a local organization dedicated to fostering meaningful cultural exchange. For more than 25 years, New Paltz and Niimi, Japan, have shared a proud Sister City relationship—one we are committed to strengthening for future generations.

Get ready to turn up the volume! Come watch New Paltz Middle Schoolers and their bands battle it out in front of local “celebrity” judges, all while supporting an international student exchange.

Earlier this year, New Paltz Middle School welcomed 11 students and their chaperones from Niimi, Japan. Staying with local host families, the students explored the Hudson Valley and shared classrooms, meals, and daily life with their New Paltz peers, experiencing American school life firsthand.

This spring, 13 New Paltz Middle School students hope to travel to Japan to continue building these connections. Their trip will include time living with their Japanese exchange partners in Niimi, as well as opportunities to explore other regions of Japan.
