Gallery@TheFalcon Reception: Maria Lago

Gallery@TheFalcon invites you to a public reception celebrating the works of Spanish-born artist and Hudson Valley resident, Maria Lago. Join us for wine and small bites, and an opportunity to explore these extraordinary paintings.

Born in Spain, artist Maria Lago was educated at Universidad Complutense and Circulo de Bellas Artes, Madrid, Spain, as well as Parsons School of Fine Arts, NYC.

Lago employs primitive, mythological symbols and archetypal images in her work to address a variety of contemporary issues, with a broad variety of materials - cement, plaster, glues, sand, shells, string, pebbles and discarded pieces of wood. She begins by making a thick paste applied liberally over the working space, into which she may slash, scratch and forge shapes or symbols, and simulate textures of earth and sea. Each medium is like a separate language from which new languages emerge.

Maria's printmaking, etching, and engraving on paper is currently being shown in New York and Spain.
