02/05 - Friday :: Glenn Zaleski Modern Jazz Quintet / Neil Alexander & Nail
Formed in 2006, this innovative young group features alumni of the prestigious Brubeck Institute Fellowship Program. The program is an exclusive opportunity for talented individuals coming out of high school to work and tour together as a real performing band.
Of the groups music, The Toronto Star’s Geoff Chapman writes: “Their sophisticated hard-bop concepts are absolutely in the moment, with harmonic notions, technical fluency and focused passions you'd expect from artists peaking after 30-year careers. They're confident - and it's justified.”

Led by Synth Wizard Neil Alexander (The Machine, The Mahavishnu Project), Neil Alexander & NAIL continues a commitment to the future of Jazz and improvised music. The ensemble comprises a tight unit with a diverse stylistic palette skillfully blending modern and traditional forms with experimental concepts and electronic music. Recorded live in the studio, their new CD "TUGGING AT THE INFINITE" is a musical tour de force illustrating the group’s tremendous versatility and sweeping dynamics.
